On a scale of 1 to fun…

October 1, 2009

I am so excited about the FUN this weekend has in store.

ACL here we come!

Rainy days, smilin faces

Waking up this morning was no fun, but it has been a joy ever since. Enough chill in the air to wear a hoodie, little spinkles of rain, and turning a little heat on in the car. Then class got out early and my second one was cancelled! So I am now at Cafe Brasil, enjoying a lovely breakfast and iced coffee, catching up on some computer work :) I’m defintely smiling today. And my daddy called last night, yes I still call him daddy and I always will. My little sister Ella also said hi and thankyou on the phone and tried to be a piggy bank, impressive for 18 months.

The meatloaf recipe.

By the way, I really hate the word loaf. Despite that, this loaf was wicked good eating last night.

Oh also put some all season or garlic salt in your mixture for some yummy flavor explosions.

Mom! Meatloaf!

September 21, 2009

This week was long and crazy to say the least. Here are a few things. I promise I will end on a positive note.

1. My moms apartment got broken into and she was beat up pretty badly. Yes, insane I know. The event has definitely changed our lives. I am so thankful she is still alive.

2.  I got a terrible haircut, ugh.

3. Saw some good friends and had some surpises.

4. I put my two weeks notice in with the nanny job. It is a long story, but I have learned a lot and I know when to take myself out of a bad situation.

5. I am constantly thinking about going to grad school, hopefully New York, a masters in design, ah. With my William as well :)

6. I made a meatloaf. Healthy style. Check it! For any weight watcher folks its only 4 points per two slices! Squash goes with it phenomenally.

“Winter, spring, summer,or fall. All you’ve got to do is call and I’ll be there. You’ve got a friend.”

Thank you Mr. James Taylor for a lovely song.

I love you mom.

(I love all of you who know who you are as well, You’ve got a friend)

So last night as I was catching up on some good blog reading before bed, I stumbled upon this post and immediately smiled. Yes please click and look! I am pretty sure I have some photos of myself doing that somewhere, or ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I am a habitual excited dancer. These dances are typically awkward and people who do not know me probably think that I have some form of disease that causes circular seizures. Will definitely knows I do this and that I love to have random dance parties, like while cooking, or via the cellular network when we are in different cities. Well definitely not just Will, a lot of people know.  Alexis and I, (one of my fabulous closest friends) are good at 80’s patio dance parties, as well as learning sweet old school Salt n Peppa and Tears for Fears choreography from youtube. I could go on and on…It is just a fantastic way to get pumped up even when you are sad and it puts smiles on faces. Ah, I feel refreshed just thinking about it.

Phone dance party instructions:

1. Call someone you thoroughly enjoy. (Or text if necessary, the idea is still there)

2. Direct them to pump up the jams and you do the same. It doesn’t have to be the same song but if you get real savvy with timing that can be fun, or make good use of the speaker function on your phone.

3.  Dance however you want and giggle if you would like. Maybe say things like “Now Strike a Pose!” or “Quick! Go Go style!”

This of course can be customized, but mainly have a blast!

Goodnight!

Sometimes your dance party leave you with top notch pony tails.

Sometimes your dance party will leave you with top notch pony tails.

(Alexis please don’t kill me for posting this picture, it fit in a hilarious way, muah. By the way, call me. Stat.)

Here is a little of a lot I want to say.

September 9, 2009

So I have been really bad and I haven’t updated in a bit. I wish I could say that really Will and I just decided to take a random trip to Australia and we have been hanging on the beach for days and days, then we decided to head to the east coast in the states and visit some of our closest friends miss Anna, Jenny, and Adam in DC, New York, and Philly. Unfortunately, I am only a storyteller and terrible liar so I won’t even try. The have been busy days, with little bits of joy in between. Little bits of joy that make it all worthwhile  :)

These are the top things that have made me happy and given me a sports butt slap to stay positive and keep going, because everyday is special in its own way.

-Daily Anna phone calls with rants and raves and girly secrets and hopes and stories of traffic and pretty things. (thanks Anna, your calls really brighten my day.

-Will being the greatest ever and when I got sad over some very childish things, he still treated me like a big girl. I love him dearly. He also looks very cute working so intently on his computer right now.

-Losing 3.2 pounds at my weight watchers weigh in :)

-Yoga. Not just the fact that I get to go again, but that it means I get to spend some time with some lovely friends in the process. So good to catch up with Jen and run into Ashleigh! ( I must post the white t shirt and jeans picture of ash, will and I. It is creepy, but a sign of true friend ship.)

Last but certainly not least, and really probably not the last but I am going to end on this note anyways.

-Season 5 of The Office came out today. Will already had it at the house when I got here. We have restarted our tradition of marathons. I am also ecstatic that Jim proposed to Pam in the first episode. I know I am behind in The Office times and it is a whole new season and everything I am excited about is old news, but ah, it made me feel warm.

Ah.

hydrating with pretty things and people.

September 1, 2009

I have been very very sick this week, I am just now able to sit up and look at the computer with out feeling the urge to bring something else up as well.  Luckily, my lovely boyfriend and my great friends (via distressed phone calls) and some very sweet kitties have been by my side the whole time and told me death was definitely worse than throwing up (I’m telling you, thats how terribly sick I have felt, bleh.) So I am happy, even if I do not feel 100% yet. I also just found this great dress from here that I think will cure me completely.

Rose DressI hope everyone is having a good week!

Oh I am also anxiously awaiting my Nikon D60 to come in the post today! Yay!

Is it late or early?

August 27, 2009

I am officially busy. I am also loving it! School is going fantastic. I am learning all sorts of great fancy new things that I can use in the the long run. Did you know that the terms upper case and lower case come from the Guttenberg printing press, quite literally. The big letter were in the upper part of the case and the small letters were in the lower part. Besides that, I actually feel like I am learning something helpful in college for once :) It makes it all worth it.

My new Nikon D60 will be coming in on Tuesday! I got lucky and only had to buy 2 books for six classes so my lovely momma is paying for part of my new camera that I need for photojournalism and in my  career and someday my own company.

Here are some pictures of lovely things, some a bit funny, that I have forgotten to post :)

Love, life, squash, and plastic knives.

Love, life, squash, and plastic knives.

Hopefully soon, I will get this blog a bit more vamped up. I’ve got some pretty good ideas brewing in my little mind. Some of the best ones came when I was sitting through a really boring online class orientation…

Hectic, yet lovely.

August 19, 2009

Today has been busy. It was also Anna’s last night in town… Which I’m once again not ready to accept. Therefore I’ve been pretty grouchy and exhausted. Luckily, I just looked at my coffee table, my lovely boyfriend, and our healthy stocked fridge.I just felt a little surge of energy in the form of warm fuzzy happiness.

Some other things that have made me feel that way today are…

Will’s excited face when he held his brand new iPhone.
My cat bobbling his head around at frozen diet root beer.
The new HEB and it’s fabulous produce section.
Lorenzo mocking my sound version of the word no and raphaels entire cute self.
The whisper fest Anna and I had at house of pies.
And Maurices this or that state of mind.

Goodnight!

Off to shower and sleep now :)

Just another wood track on the toy train set.

August 13, 2009

The oldest boy I watch, Lorenzo turned 2 on Sunday and got a fabulous wooden toy train set. It was crazy to watch him play with it on Monday. At such a young age he understands how to make it work. He got frustrated a few times but none the less he kept adding the tracks on and the train would go further, maybe in lots of crazy directions though. He was so excited.

I think we all need to be like this, excited about every new direction we can take despite which way it is.

On that note. I said so long for now to my jenny this weekend. She is officially in New York and I couldn’t be more excited for her. We may have taken away the drought from San Marcos on Sunday with our tears though.  Here is  a photo of her last day at Imperial Garden! And William and I telling her something meaningful!
